The Ghost Bride of China

A remote village in China is home to a tale about a young bride who never reached her wedding ceremony.

According to legend, she was traveling to meet her future husband when a storm struck. Her journey ended tragically before she could arrive.

Soon afterward, villagers began seeing a woman in traditional wedding clothing walking through the countryside at night.

A traveler named Wei once encountered the mysterious bride while crossing a mountain path. She appeared ahead of him carrying a lantern.

Believing she was lost, Wei offered assistance. The bride smiled but said nothing.

As they walked, Wei noticed her feet never touched the ground.

Suddenly, the lantern light faded. The woman slowly disappeared into the darkness.

When Wei reached the next village and described what he had seen, elders immediately recognized the description.

They told him about the Ghost Bride, a spirit said to continue searching for the wedding she never attended.

To this day, villagers claim that on stormy nights, a glowing lantern can still be seen moving along lonely mountain trails.

The story remains one of China's most enduring ghost legends.
